Thin walls, steep overhangs, a mesh that is not closed — caught here, not by your slicer
What this actually means
- Wall thickness: computed against your nozzle diameter, with the too-thin regions marked on the model itself.
- Overhangs: faces past 45 degrees get highlighted, so you know where supports go — or that a different orientation removes them.
- Watertightness: open faces, self-intersections and flipped normals — the most common cause of a failed slice.
- Size: a warning when it exceeds common build volumes, rather than finding out at slicing time.
Common questions
- If it passes, will the print succeed?
- It rules out problems in the **model** (thin walls, open meshes, overhangs, oversize). Printing also depends on filament, temperature, bed adhesion and machine condition, which it cannot see. But with the model half clean, the cause is much easier to find.
- What does it consider too thin?
- It works from the nozzle diameter (0.4 mm by default). Change the nozzle and change that number — the checks follow.
- Do overhangs always need supports?
- Often not. Reorienting the part frequently removes them entirely, which is much better than supports (less filament, no scars). It suggests the better orientation alongside the warning.
